John Schmidt, MD is a Board Certified Internist who is passionate about providing the highest level of care to his patients by taking a holistic approach to preventive medicine.
His practice was among the first in New Jersey to achieve Meaningful Use of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) in 2011 and 2012. Dr. Schmidt is a pioneer in the electronic coordination and management of patient encounters with specialists and other health care providers. Patients benefit from his proactive approach; the duplication of tests and procedures is minimized, as well as the risk of potentially dangerous drug interactions.
He is also one of the first to provide patients direct Internet access to their personal health information through the secure, password-protected, Follow My Health Patient Portal available on this website. Patients can view a complete record of their medical history, as well as schedule appointments, follow-up care, obtain prescription refills and communicate with Dr. Schmidt.
A magna cum laude graduate from St. Joseph’s University, Dr. Schmidt earned a Bachelor of Science degree and was the co-recipient of the Biology Prize. His medical degree is from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in his third year.
Dr. Schmidt was appointed Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 2013. He is a member of the Allscripts Star Program and NJ-HiTech, both of which are dedicated to the deployment and implementation of cutting edge EMR technology.
NJBIZ named Dr. Schmidt Healthcare Hero: Volunteer of the Year in 2011 for his work as an Internist for Parker Family Health Center, a volunteer-based, free health care facility in Monmouth County.
